Thinking about this the other day I realized that meeting the right person and falling in love is like that perfect harmonic moment in a song, a piece of music. It's magic when it happens after the waiting and anticipation. I really like women, and can be friends with them, often much more than men. Seems like that's the place to start. And I'm fun to be with--well-read, well-informed, incapable of resisting making jokes when they pop in my head. People feel comfortable when they're with me. What I'm looking for in a relationship is less drama, more enjoyment together, more pleasure of every kind every day.
My Ideal Person:
Someone warm, kind, sexually at ease, bright, with a sense of humor. Someone with whom I can enjoy the outdoors, or sit by a fire and read a book. Confident, independent, happy. And who enjoys or at least wouldn't mind someone who is often making jokes, some of which are even funny. I'm sorry, I can't help it.
The last great book I read
I am always reading. I love great fiction, and great books
on the environment. One of the benefits of being a book salesman
is constant access to books. I recently read an advance
edition of a novel coming out in April by Ron Carlson. I loved
it so much I went to the website of the university at which
he teaches, found his e-mail, sent him a fan note. What was
so good about the book was the humanity he brought to the
three protaganists, three very different men, each of
whom comes to himself over the course of the story. My favorite
kind of novel.
